About the Neverending Field Trip!
There is very little in life that is as rewarding as getting out on a family field trip. Whether it’s a long-haul trip across the world to see wonders that few others get to see or a short trip across the street to see how local farmers harvest crops for the weekly farmer’s market, the world is full of amazing things that we get to share with our kids. (And also, enjoy ourselves!)
The Neverending Field Trip is about encouraging parents to take part in their kids’ education through exploring the world together as a family. It is my goal to provide resources for making that happen, through recommendations for places to visit, ideas for things to do, and suggestions on ways to make it happen.

Why do Field Trips?
I am a firm believer in the concept of experiential learning.
That’s not to say that kids don’t need book learning, or that they can’t learn plenty of amazing things sitting in a classroom! I just think that getting out into nature or experiencing different cultures firsthand has an impact on kids that changes their lives for the better.
Taking a family field trip can give kids experiences that they might otherwise never have, push them to look at their world from a different perspective, and inspire them to be curious about the world around them.
Ultimately, I think that experiencing more of what our world has to offer helps kids to fall in love with the act of discovery and become better global citizens.

What is a Field Trip?
For a lot of people, the words “Field Trip” conjure images of a full classroom of kids swarming a museum while a teacher and two chaperones desperately try to keep track of them all. But at its heart, that’s not really what a field trip is.
Simply put, a field trip is any trip that allows kids to learn in a place where they can experience the subject matter firsthand.
That can look like a lot of different things for different people. It could be learning about where food comes from while grocery shopping, or learning about lift while flying a kite. But it could also be traveling to Greece to learn about the Ancient Greek culture, or taking French cooking classes in France.
The fun thing is since you’re the parent, you get to choose what family field trips look like, or how far you go! Almost anything can be a great opportunity to learn, so long as it is framed that way.

About the Author (That’s me!)
Hey!
My name is Jacob. I’ve been traveling internationally since 2006, but I’ve always been a fan of field trips.
My family is choosing to live a nomadic lifestyle, teaching our kids as we go. It’s working really well for us, and we’re having the time of our lives! A lot of the principles that we’ve been learning on our travels are things that I think other families could benefit from, which is why I’ve made it my mission to share those insights and values to get other families traveling and learning together.
