Hey! My name is Jacob, and I’m taking my family on a Neverending Field Trip. We’re exploring ancient ruins, digging up fossils, and relaxing in some amazing hot springs, all in the name of education.

My family has been full-time traveling since 2020, though we started taking international trips much earlier than that. We’ve visited nearly 30 countries together as a family, and are actively working to grow that number.

Why are Family Field Trips important?

Field Trips provide an opportunity to engage in learning through doing, or experiential learning. Experiential learning has a ton of advantages over book learning, including increased engagement and retention of information. This makes field trips an invaluable resource for any family wanting to take their kids’ education deeper!

Research shows that doing pre-learning with your kids is a key factor in determining how much they'll get out of a field trip. (Educationally speaking.) One of our kids' favorite ways to do pre-learning is by reading books filled with fun facts about our upcoming trip locations, but after scouring the internet for good resources for teaching kids about Hot Springs, I really couldn't find one I was satisfied with.

So, I wrote one!

What is a Hot Spring? is my first educational picture book that I've written and goes into detail about these incredible geological features that can be found across the world. Whether you're planning a family trip to Yellowstone National Park, relaxing in an onsen after exploring the Japanese countryside, or are just want to know why hot springs even exist, this is a great resource for curious kids!

And, bonus, it's available for free via Kindle Unlimited!
