The Neverending Field Trip
The Neverending Field Trip

During the beginning years of my family’s travels, I made an effort to research some of the different topics that caught our family’s attention. We dove into questions like, “Why are hot springs hot?” and “Where does chocolate come from?”

I ended up creating a short series of PDF booklets that I called my Field Trip Field Notes and started selling them for a couple dollars. Some of them read more like a science book, and others more like a short story, but all of them were filled with fun facts about the topics that we explored on our trips!

But, frankly, I was still getting my legs under me, where writing was concerned, and they could use a bit of updating to make them more interesting! So, as I find time, I will be turning my Field Notes into a series of non-fiction kids’ books exploring science, history, and culture. All the things that make a field trip fun and educational!

Research shows that doing pre-learning with your kids is a key factor in determining how much they'll get out of a field trip. (Educationally speaking.) One of our kids' favorite ways to do pre-learning is by reading books filled with fun facts about our upcoming trip locations, but after scouring the internet for good resources for teaching kids about Hot Springs, I really couldn't find one I was satisfied with.

So, I wrote one!

What is a Hot Spring? is my first educational picture book that I've written and goes into detail about these incredible geological features that can be found across the world. Whether you're planning a family trip to Yellowstone National Park, relaxing in an onsen after exploring the Japanese countryside, or are just want to know why hot springs even exist, this is a great resource for curious kids!

And, bonus, it's available for free via Kindle Unlimited!
